Only in Disney can you snap these pictures side by side. Its a Don Quixote tilting at windmills moment. In New York I love the Metropole Museum with all its huge bequests, not one Monet but loads, not one Picasso but tons... you get the picture. But there is something about the art of Disney which is quite extraordinary. Its easy to dismiss it as popular cultural frippery (and a huge cash cow too - with the most disgusting food) but there is something oddly Americana about the whole place - and in truth, snobbish as we are, the food in the Metropole is disgusting and money speaks a similar language, just with a different accent. High art and popular culture are too easy to dismiss as ideas with a simple compare.  And I have been listening to Lucinda Williams in the car - oh yay for sanity:
