Icarus skywriting # 47

Happy genius? Moi?
I was sent this wonderful poem which I had never come across before and its great for self image. Is it not great being the 'happy genius'? I post it here as a reminder - and I almost forgot to remember, since this bog is called 55@55 it means it has been running for 3 years - belated happy blog-day to me.

William Carlos Williams, 'Danse Russe'

If when my wife is sleeping

and the baby and Kathleen
are sleeping
and the sun is a flame-white disc
in silken mists
above shining trees,-
if I in my north room
dance naked, grotesquely
before my mirror
waving my shirt round my head
and singing softly to myself:
'I am lonely, lonely,
I was born to be lonely,
I am best so!'
If I admire my arms, my face,
my shoulders, flanks, buttocks
against the yellow drawn shades,-

Who shall say I am not

the happy genius of my household?

This track is from my new LP - 'am I really who I used to be?
